Terms of use
Last updated: 5 October 2026
By creating an account or using Throttle you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
Drive safely and legally
- Throttle is a driving aid. You are always responsible for how you drive. Obey road rules, signs, speed limits and police directions, even when the app says otherwise.
- Don't use your phone in a way that breaks the law. Set routes before you drive, and let a passenger handle the app. Typing features lock while the car is moving.
- Routes, traffic, hazards, speed limits, speed cameras, fuel prices and weather may be wrong, incomplete or out of date.
- No street racing or illegal driving. Don't use Throttle to organise or promote street racing, speed contests, burnouts, evading police or any dangerous or illegal driving. Meets must be lawful.
Your account
You must be at least 16 years old, and hold a licence to drive. Keep your login secure; you're responsible for activity on your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abuse
You're responsible for what you post, including posts, photos, comments, messages, hazard reports, meets and profile details. Don't post anything that is:
- harassing, bullying, hateful, threatening or discriminatory;
- sexual, violent or graphic;
- promoting dangerous or illegal driving or other illegal activity;
- false or misleading (including fake hazard reports), spam or scams;
- someone else's private information, or content you don't have the rights to.
Every user can report content and block other users. We review reports, usually within 24 hours, and remove content that breaks these terms. We may suspend or remove accounts that break them, without notice.
You keep ownership of what you post, and give us a licence to store, display and share it in Throttle so the features work.
Throttle Pro
Paid features are billed through your Apple ID and managed in your App Store account settings, under Apple's terms. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
Third-party services
Throttle uses services such as Mapbox, OpenStreetMap, Transport for NSW and Spotify (when you open a Jam). Their own terms apply to them.
No warranty and limits on liability
Throttle is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for loss, injury, fines or damage arising from your use of the app or from inaccurate information in it. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can't be excluded.
Changes, law and contact
We may update these terms and will post changes here. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Contact: SUPPORT_EMAIL.
